Why Aquire Concetta Antico’s Original Oil On Canvas Tetrachromatic Masterpieces & Archival Prints?
Concetta Antico is an Australian native who resides in California. She is a critically acclaimed artist who has amassed a cult-following of art-lovers from around the world. Concetta is a Tetrachromat possessing an incredibly rare genetic mutation. She has a fourth color receptor in her retina compared with the standard three which most people have. While those of us with three of these receptors – called color cone cells – have the ability to distinguish around one million different colors, tetrachromats see an estimated 100 million colors. “It’s not just an affectation, and it’s not artistic licence,” says Antico. “I’m actually painting exactly what I see. If I paint a pink flower and then all of a sudden I put a bit of lilac or blue there, I actually saw that.” According to Dr Kimberly Jameson, a University of California research scientist who has studied Antico since 2014, just having the gene alone (which around 12% of women have) – is not sufficient to be a functioning tetrachromat, you must grow the condition. “ In Concetta’s case … one thing we believe is that because she’s been painting continuously since the age of five years old, she has really enlisted this extra genetic potential and used it. This is how genetics works: it gives you the potential to do things and if the environment demands that you do that thing, then the genes kick in. In Concetta’s case she happens to be the “perfect storm” for this phenomenon” Concetta Antico uses her gift as a tetrachromat to paint in vivid and exciting colors that light up a room. Her masterpieces has been praised by collectors and fans worldwide, as a result her work is highly coveted and garners world media.  Impressionist style oil painted subjects include; all forms of nature, the celestial universe, flora, fauna – including her signature Peacocks – and vignettes of everyday life which emotionally move her.
