Concetta Antico is an Australian born, critically acclaimed artist. Working between Sydney and Los Angeles, Concetta paints original works that unite nature and science through a style of kaleidoscopic color and brushwork.

Concetta is a Tetrachromatic artist. Tetrachromacy is an extremely rare condition created by a genetic mutation that creates ‘super vision’. Tetrachromats have four types of cones in their eyes (most humans have three), which allows them to perceive up to 100 million more colors than the average person. Having super color vision has enhanced Concetta’s artwork, allowing her to use color in a manner that makes her work more dynamic. At this time Concetta is the world’s only known Tetrachromatic artist, making her paintings highly collectible and rare.

Murasaki no Bara (Violet Roses)
My art is a bridge between two visual realities. As a tetrachromat, my retinas possess a fourth cone cell, allowing me to perceive an estimated 100 million colors—a hyper-vivid mosaic of light and shadow where standard vision sees only a uniform hue.
Created in Tokyo at Kogakuin University, Murasaki no Bara is a living laboratory of human perception. To the trichromat eye, a rose bouquet may appear simply violet. To my eyes, it is a kaleidoscope of subtle magentas, hidden emerald shadows, grayed blues, and peeking glowing golds. By applying oil to canvas during this live study, I am translating my physiological reality into a physical form.
This painting is not an abstraction; it is a literal rendering of my visual truth. It exists to challenge the boundaries of how we define color names and to invite viewers to look beyond the limits of standard human vision, questioning what else remains unseen in the world around us.
