How do you see? What do you perceive?
What is your unique impression of the world and your experience in it?
Did you know that the amount of joy you feel each moment corresponds with the way you “see” what’s around you? Fact is, if you aren’t looking for happiness in your world you won’t see it, and you won’t feel it either…
There’s an old saying that goes something like this – “you can’t see for looking.”
Perhaps you are “too close” to a situation, or not offering enough perspective to it? Perhaps you are projecting an outcome or an expectation onto it, causing you to not truly see it? Perhaps you are negative, and see a half empty world instead of a world which is bubbling and overflowing with abundance!
What you “see” will affect your experience of it. Do you see beauty in everything in your world? Do you see hope? Do you see infinite possibilities? Do you notice the minute details in nature? In creation? Are you offering gratitude for the fact you have sight at all?!
There is great truth in the “rose-colored glasses” analogy. Looking at the world in a positive rosy light will provide peace and added elation. You see, it is not what you see that makes you feel, it is what your own mind does with the information that drives the key result. As your mind controls your emotions, why not feed it with positive images which in turn will provide positive thoughts? Look for joy and you will feel it.
Living life not only as an artist, but as a 100 million more colored one – a Tetrachromat – I have been blessed with a hyper-pigmented and sensitive view of the world. This added “looking” brings me added delight, which in turn adds to my satisfaction with life and how I internalize what I see around me. I share this with you as it has served me and my exuberance for living each day to its fullest and most fabulous! But you don’t need to be a Tetrachromat to hone in on this mode of living. Simply focusing on the many wondrous details of your experiences will help you to see what you may have failed to see in the past. Your impression and appreciation will change if you are truly “looking” at the punctuated beauty in every moment.
You can choose to see. You can choose to experience pleasure in your surroundings. You can choose to feel joy by really looking and seeing it inherent in everything around you. I urge you, from today onward, to see your world in a very, very good way. You will feel like the whole world is brand new and all yours.
I challenge you to learn to see in a new and creative manner which will help you feel like you’ve got a blank canvas, a fresh start to life. Hold nothing over, seize a clean break by detaching from your old preconSEEved notions. Strive for complete tranquility. Come to a full stop then look with a renewed passion to live and love life.
The famous quote by Norman Vincent Peale profoundly expressed, “Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
I would roll it back one step further, “Change how you see, change your thoughts and you change your world.”
Love Looking – Love Color – Love Life.
