THE COLOR QUEEN’S MUSE NEWS
Dear Family, Friends, Collectors, Art Lovers and Students,
As I sit here late at night at my farm in Byron Bay, Australia, I find it hard to believe another holiday season is upon us and I reflect on all the tiny moments that comprised this one full year that has swiftly past us by… It makes me pause, in a way that is solemn and makes me ask “Did I celebrate life in the best way possible and could I have held gratitude and let special events land longer?”. It is my new resolution if I didn’t :).
This year was surely a significant one for me.
Change was the hallmark of every month as I now lean into reinventing my world yet again. Major milestones included the end of my teaching career in my studio in San Diego, a feature at The iN Gallery, making the cover and feature story in the guide book of Where Magazine in every SD hotel, the final relocation of my home base, from Mission Hills to my farm in Byron Bay to start many new chapters in creativity down under. This year I also visited London and fell in love with the culture there, the arts were celebrated so profoundly and the National Gallery was a pilgrimage for me, as well as a special visit to Chartwell, the home of Winston Churchill who was also an artist of great acclaim!
I was celebrated many times in the world press, with several documentaries completed and some still in the works as my gift of tetrachromacy continues to make bold scientific news! The research with Dr. Kimberly Jameson at UCI continues, and I feel blessed to have such a colorful gift!
My last show in November “ Phantasmic Paintings” at my Witherby Gardens home was also very significant. I was delighted to sell my entire San Diego art collection one day before the show! This amazing image of the collector’s christmas tree flanked by just some of the artwork sold is a testimony to the beauty of my art and makes me so proud. I feel blessed to do what I love for my life work.
2019 promises to be a very special year, as it feels like opening a surprise gift… I do not know exactly what is inside, but it is sure to delight and be different! So I am ready to immerse myself in the next conjuring! To reinvent myself and my art with new influences and cultural experiences!
Finally, I do wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a happy, happy holiday season and a wealth of success and joy in the coming year. I hope to continue to teach many of you either across cyberspace:) or at my new Gallery and Studio.

CONCETTA IN THE MEDIA
December 27th, Concetta will be featured on the homepage of New York Magazine and The Cut in a video interview entitled What It’s Like To See 100 Million Colors.
Concetta was recently interviewed by cultural historian Ainsley Hawthorn, Ph.D., for an upcoming non-fiction book called The Other Five Senses.
Dr. Hawthorn interviewed Concetta for the last chapter of the book, which describes special sensory abilities like tetrachromacy, magnetic sense of direction, and echolocation, which some blind people have learned to use (like bats and dolphins do) to get around.
The book is still being written. Stay tuned for the publication date!
