Perfect Weather for Plein Air

Dragged image

Hello lovelies!

As temperatures rise and summer skies beckon the winter-weary, why not tap into your inner artist? Magnificent landscapes take on new meaning when you set up a canvas before a commanding view. With paint brushes in hand, focus on what you see, not what you imagine or intellectualize about the subject at hand – otherwise you might as well be back in the studio! Pay attention to the colors nature provides and mix your palette accordingly. Then start by putting the main shapes across the whole painting and then the detail.

Plein air painting (a term derived from the French phrase en plain air, which literally means “in the open air”) will capture a comment and conserve a view forever, regardless of change.

If you’re in the San Diego area, why not join my salon for a class or two? It’s never too late to start? Your own summer scene souvenir awaits!
